My intention for the this photo was to take a close up picture of a flower for my free choice assignment.  I used the rule of thirds in this photo because the the the center of the flower is slightly up and to the left of the center.  I also used line because the lines in the petals led your eye to the the center of the flower.  Also the line of the part of the flower coming out of the center leads your eye to the center.  There is good contrast between the darker center of the flower and the lighter colored petals which makes the subject stand out more.  The texture of the flower also creates contrast.  The center of the flower is  much smoother than the petals.  There is not really a background because the flower takes up the whole flower so there is nothing to distract from the subject.  Overall I am happy with this photo

Photojournalism

May 28, 2009

For photojournalism i took a pictures of a soccer game.  It shows a player going to shoot.  There is use of line in this photo becasue the line of the track leads your eye to the player with the ball.  I also used the rule of thirds in this photo.  The subject is down a little from the center and a little bit to the right.  There is a second goal in the background but it dose not take away from the photo to much.  Even though the background is not all in focus it is fine because the subject is in focus and is clear.  The color of the players and the grass creates contrast and draws your eye to the subject.  Overall I feel good about this photo because you are able to tell what is happening in the photo by just looking at it.

Advertisemen

May 28, 2009

My intention for the photo was to make an advertisement for the BTS.  I used blur on the BTS to show its speed and made the car still to show how much slower it was.  I used the rule of thirds in this photo because the car and the BTS are slightly below the center, and the car is to the left.  There is also use of line in the road and the line of the car leads to the BTS.  Also there not being a cluttered background helped not to distract from the subject.  I do not feel very good about this photo because the lines that can be seen behind the BTS and the car.

Inspired

May 28, 2009

For my inspired photo I took a picture of light reflecting on aluminum foil.  I used the rule of thirds with the dark place after the aluminum foil ends is a little to the left of the center and at the bottom of the photo.  I also used line in this photo.  The direction of the line of the tunnel of aluminum foil leads your eye down the tunnel.  There is also good contrast because the place where the aluminum foil ends is really dark, but the aluminum foil itself is bright from the reflection of light.  The top of the photo is out of focus, but it does not take away form the image.  There is also a contrast in the texture because the aluminum foil has many folds in it and the darkness is much smoother.  I fell good with the lighting of the photo and how turned out.

Self Portrait

May 28, 2009

For my self portrait i took a picture of my legs with a soccer ball.  I chose to take a picture of my legs because i use them to run and play soccer so they are very important to me.  I used the rule of the thirds in this picture because I am a little to the right and down from the center of the photo.  My shadow and the shadow of the soccer ball help to direct your eyes to the feet.  There is also nothing in the background to distracts from the subject of the photo.  The color of the grass creates a contrast with the subject which makes the subject be the main focus of the photo.  The light also helps to create a contrast because the grass has no shadow on it and is much brighter, and the subject is not facing the sunlight so it is darker.  Overall I am happy with this photo.

Portrait

November 19, 2008

My intention with this image was a portrait.  I employed the following elements with composition.  The lines of his arms and collar lead to the subjects face.  There is also contrast between the dark background, and the drums and the subject.  Even though there is another drum in the background it does not take away from the photo because the photo is also about drums.  I feel good about this photo and the contrast between the darker and lighter areas.  If I were to shoot this image again, I would use the rule of thirds and not have my subject in the middle of the photo.

Swings

October 14, 2008

My intention with this photo was to capture motion.  I employed the following art elements and design principles with lines.  The line of the chins leads you to swing.  Also the lines of the shadow and the chains of the other swing lead to the swings area.  One swing being still also helps.  I have used contrast in the texture of the picture.  The texture of the sand if rougher then the contrast of the chain and the swing and it helps to show the contrast.  The shadows and the darkness of the swing contrast with the lightness of the sand.  I manipulated balance by making the swing in the lower right side of the picture.  I feel good with how the lines lead to the swing and the position on the swing.  If I were to shoot this photo again, I would change the shadow at the bottom of the picture.  It bothers me a little bit but not enough to take it again.
